The first stage of the admissions process for prospective students at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” for the 2026/2027 academic year has been announced. Among a total of 9,960 applicants who submitted admission applications, the Journalism program (full-time) ranks fourth in popularity with 1,526 applicants; Public Relations (full-time) follows in sixth place with 1,341 applicants, while Communication Management ranks eighth, chosen by 1,090 applicants.

A total of 6,084 applicants were admitted during the first stage of the ranking process for full-time and part-time programs, both state-funded and self-funded.

From July 10 through July 17, 2026, inclusive, applicants ranked in the first stage have the following options:

1. Enroll in the program for which they were admitted, without participating in the next stage.

1.1. Applicants admitted to their first-choice program must enroll at this stage of the admissions process; they are not eligible to confirm their admission or wait for the end of the admissions rounds.

1.2. Candidates admitted to their second, third, and so on, preferred majors may enroll in the major for which they were admitted at this stage, or they may express their desire to participate in the next round of admissions by submitting their original high school diploma and completing a declaration of participation in the next stage of admissions for a higher-priority major.

2. Candidates admitted in the first stage of the admissions process who do not enroll in the program to which they were admitted, or who do not confirm their desire to participate in the next admissions round, are disqualified and lose their student status. The vacancies left by them are filled in the next admissions round.

(2) Candidates not admitted in this stage do not submit a declaration of participation in the admissions process or submit their high school diploma, as they automatically participate in the next stage of the admissions process.

Enrollment takes place at the “Students” department of the faculty to which the candidates have been admitted. All necessary enrollment documents must be completed in advance. A set of standard enrollment documents for newly admitted students can be purchased at the bookstores in the Rectorate buildings, the Faculty of Education and Arts, the Faculty of Economics, and at the stands of the University Press with the “St. Kliment Ohridski” Printing House.

The second stage of the admissions process will take place on July 21, 2026. It includes candidates who were confirmed in the first stage—for whom re-ranking to a higher-priority major listed on the application form is possible—as well as unranked applicants.

The enrollment period is from July 22 through July 31, 2026, inclusive. The results of this round of admissions are final.
