The Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication is a leader in national and global academic rankings

The Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication offers 23 out of a total of 30 majors in the professional field of 3.5 Public Communications and Information Sciences at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" (4 for bachelor's degrees and 19 for master's degrees). The position of the majors at FJMC in national and international higher education rankings by scientific fields and disciplines has an impact on at least three levels:

  • on the motivation of prospective students and doctoral candidates;
  • on the state's decisions on the annual admission plan;
  • on the assessments of funding institutions of projects by established scientists, young scientists, doctoral students, and postdoctoral researchers.

At the national level, the quality of education in the specialties at FJMC is assessed annually by the Ministry of Education and Science's Rating System of Higher Education Institutions in Bulgaria.
The news about FJMC at Sofia University from the 2025 edition of the Rating System is once again excellent.
