The program accreditation rating for the professional field 3.5 Public Communications and Information Sciences at Sofia University, recalculated in accordance with the newly published Methodology for Calculating Ratings, once again placed the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication (FJMC) in the top spot.

The new score of 9.76 not only confirmed the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication’s first place in Bulgaria but also continues to make it the leader among the 12 academic fields accredited to date throughout Sofia University.

The score of 9.76 reflects the quality of education, research, and facilities at the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication, in accordance with the Quality Standards of the European Higher Education Area, adopted as a criteria system by the National Agency for Academic Accreditation and Evaluation (NAAAE) on June 8, 2023.

The National Agency for Academic Accreditation (NAAA) automatically updated the accreditation ratings for all academic programs in Bulgaria after the previous methodology for calculating the ratings was challenged in court. The new Methodology for Calculating Ratings was published in the State Gazette, Issue No. 54, dated June 12, 2026.

The Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication (FJMC) ranks first in the program accreditation ratings for 12 academic fields at Sofia University (as of July 1, 2026).
