International Scientific Conference "The Changing Media: Professional, Regulatory, and Ethical Challenges Facing Media and Communications in a Digital Environment" at FJMC

For the sixth consecutive year, the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication is organizing an international scientific conference from the series of scientific forums "Communication and Media in the 21st Century." This year, the forum will be held on October 30 and 31, 2025, online on the Microsoft Teams platform. The theme of the 2025 conference is "The Changing Media: Professional, Regulatory, and Ethical Challenges Facing Media and Communications in a Digital Environment."

The academic partners of the anniversary international conference are prestigious foreign universities: Eastern University in Kentucky, USA, the Polytechnic Institute in Lisbon, Portugal, the University of Vilnius, Lithuania, the University of Bucharest, Romania, and Vytautas Magnus University in Lithuania.

The plenary session will begin on October 30 at 10:00 a.m. (Bulgarian time) with the opening of the conference by Prof. Dr. Veselina Valkova, Dean of the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication.

The conference will continue with seven parallel panels conducted in English and Bulgarian: "AI, Algorithms & Hybrid Media: Workflows, Design & Audiences"; "Digital Infrastructures & Audience Practices"; "Media Trust and Media Influence"; "Politics, Conflict Communication & Democratic Discourse"; "Platforms, Influencers & Moderation: Identity, Power & Practice"; "Journalism, Culture & Democratic Discourse".

In the working panels, lecturers and researchers from Bulgarian universities and institutions will discuss a wide range of issues with their colleagues from foreign universities from seven countries.

Media and communications specialists, graduates of the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication, and anyone involved in the issues of the media and communications environment and culture in their various dimensions are invited to participate in the scientific forum. The conference papers will be published in a peer-reviewed collection.
