The Media Survey Center of the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication has launched a new academic journal: Journal of Media Survey Center.

The journal is peer-reviewed, open-access, and aims to publish original scholarly work in the field of media and communication studies. It will publish academic articles and studies in Bulgarian and English, thereby promoting both national academic debate and the international visibility of research related to media, journalism, and communications.

The journal’s thematic scope includes media systems and policies, journalism studies, digital and social media, audience research, media and democracy, political communication, media regulation, and communication theory. The journal accepts research articles, review articles, media studies, and analytical reports, as well as book reviews.

Journal of Media Survey Center is now accepting submissions for its first issue. The deadline for manuscript submission is September 30. Manuscripts should be submitted via the journal’s online platform: https://periodicals.uni-sofia.bg/index.php/JMSC/bg/about/submissions

Authors should familiarize themselves in advance with the manuscript submission guidelines published on the platform. Submissions must comply with the requirements for formatting, bibliographic citation, anonymization for double-blind peer review, and the provision of necessary information about the authors and the text. This call is directed at faculty members, researchers, doctoral students, and early-career scholars working in the field of media and communications.

We're creating the journal to support the Media Survey Center research activities and to provide a sustainable platform for publishing empirical, theoretical, and applied research. The new journal aims to become a space for serious scholarly discourse, where the media environment is not merely described but is examined, measured, analyzed, and reflected upon in its social, cultural, and democratic dimensions.
