From April 20 to 24, the Confucius Institute at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) organized a visit for Bulgarian educators to Beijing and Xi’an, in which professors and teachers from across the country participated. Sofia University was represented by Prof. Dr. Veselina Valkanova, Dean of the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication.

The delegation of Bulgarian scholars and educators met with Prof. Dr. Zhao Gang, Vice President of Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), as well as with heads of departments, institutes, and deans of the university, with Mr. Liu Jiankin, Deputy Director of the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC), Mr. Yang Jian, Vice President of Xi’an Polytechnic University, with heads of university centers and departments, and with the team of Mr. Zhao Yucao, President of the Beijing Foreign Studies University High School Branch, Chaoyang Campus.

The discussions focused on trends in Bulgarian and Chinese educational programs, the integration of new technologies, structural transformations, social and educational developments in the context of digital transformation and technological innovation, inter-university cooperation, and support for digital technology infrastructure.
During the visits, programs and experiences were exchanged, visions for the future of universities, education, and the modernization of the learning and teaching environment were shared, and ideas were discussed regarding cooperation in the field of digitization, research programs and projects, mutually beneficial collaboration, and the exchange of students and faculty.
