A team of researchers from FJMC participates in an international consortium on the project "Media Masters - Improving Media Literacy"

mastFJMC is a key partner in the project "Media Masters - Improving Media Literacy" (CERV-2023-CITIZENS-CIV-01148165), as the University of Sofia and the University of Maribor (Slovenia) are the only higher education institutions in the consortium, which brings together 12 organisations from the NGO sector, higher education and the private sector. The project leader of the FJMC is Prof. Dr. Vesselina Valkanova, Dean of the FJMC, coordinator is Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mila Serafimova, assistant professors, postdocs, PhD students, and undergraduates are involved. Several events are planned under the project, and the focus is on the presentation of a board game thematically oriented to media literacy training and practices. The research part of the project includes an experiment aimed at testing the functional features of the first version of the board game among real users, to determine to what extent the development can be an effective pedagogical tool for improving the media literacy of young people. Based on the results obtained from the empirical study, the FWMC team will propose recommendations to the consortium partners for changes and improvements to the prototype. The tests and studies of the teams of researchers from 12 European countries will contribute to the final version of the product, which will be used for practical media literacy training of students. The first conference of the project took place on 10 April 2025.
