Ventsislav Dimov
Ventsislav Dimov [PhD (1999); Ph.D. (2018)] is a professor at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski," Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication. He is the head of the Ethnomusicology Research Group at the Institute for Art Studies - BAS. He has habilitations in fields 3.5. Public Communications and Information Sciences and 8.3. Music and Dance Arts. Author of 7 monographs (two of which are co-authored); over 300 scientific publications: studies, articles, reviews, published in Bulgarian and foreign journals and collections. Participant in authoring teams for textbooks and teaching aids. Areas of scientific interest: social and human sciences, media studies, ethnomusicology, anthropology of traditional and popular music, media music and the music industry, cultural history, etc. Active scientific popularizer, publicist, journalist with many years of experience in the media. From 1993 to 2020, he was the author and host of the radio program "Folk Magazine" on Darik Radio's national airwaves, and from 1997 to 2007, he was the author and host of the weekly radio program "Studio Ethno" on the same radio station. He is a screenwriter and consultant for dozens of television and documentary films and has collaborated with Bulgarian National Radio, Bulgarian National Television, and Fan Folk TV. He is a member of the Union of Bulgarian Composers – Musicologists Section; ICTMD – International Council for Traditional Music and Dance at UNESCO; Filmautor – the Bulgarian organization for the management of copyright and related rights in audiovisual works; the Union of Bulgarian Journalists. Recipient of many awards for scientific and applied activities. Member of the editorial board of Medialog magazine, the Yearbook of Sofia University – Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication, and Art Studies Readings – New Art: a thematic peer-reviewed WS collection on art studies.
